John Carter of Mars by John Coleman Burroughs  (0695-) 1st Sunday December 7, 1941 - Edgar Rice Burroughs,   the creator of Tarzan and John Carter,  was not the only talented member of the family.   His son,  John Coleman Burroughs was a illustrator of note whose contributions to his father's published books are well noted.  In 1941,   the younger Burroughs brought John Carter to the Sunday Comics.    Lavishly drawn,  the strip was an extraordinary action strip which stayed relatively close to the ERB stories.   Unfortunately the timing for the strip was difficult,  it was introduced when the United States was entering WWII.    The strip was picked up by only a few newspapers and ended up only lasting until early 1943.   The market for John Carter pages is very strong.   Printed exclusively in Half-Size,  these strips sell very well at high premium.  They are very hard to keep in stock.
