Ella Cinders by Bill Conselman & Charles Plumb (0295-) 1st Daily June 1st, 1925, 1st Sunday January 2, 1927 - Ella Cinders at one time was one of the most popular strips in the comics.  Created by Bill Conselman and Charles Plumb, Ella was an unlikely movie-star who would get into all kinds of fun and adventure.  The high-water mark for the strip came when Children's Book novelist Hardie Gramatky ghosted a long run of great sundays.  Through the mid-1930's,  these sundays were big and colorful with grand layouts and lettering.  Gags gave way to high-adventure continuities which expanded the coverage of the strip.  Unfortunately, the strip took an unimaginative turn as Gramatky moved on to other endeavors and finally the strip died in 1961.  The market for Ella Cinders is somewhat thin.  Because it was very popular in the late 20's early 30's, the strip was carried by plenty of papers, thus supply is ample.  Because it became very ordinary, very fast and for a real long time, it tends to be asked for only by completists.  Regardless, for the price, those 1920-30 fulls are a very good buy.

Elmer (Just Boy) by AC Fera, Doc Winner (0300-) 1st Appearance May 6, 1916 - Elmer was a boy-strip creation of AC Fera in 1916.  Although it was a mildly humorous, it was also rarely imaginative.    In the days when Skippy and Perry Winkle roamed the sunday pages,  Elmer was somewhat weak competition .  Still, the strip lasted a long time, well into the 1940's.   The market for Elmer pages is a bit thin.    They can be obtained a quite economical prices.

Etta Kett by Paul Robinson (0305-) 1st Appearance December, 1925 - Beginning in late 1925, Etta Kett was another of the flapper strips stemming from the 1920's.  Like those that survived the era,   Etta Kett had to metamorphosize away from the frivolous flapper mentality to attract Great Depression and beyond readers.  For Etta Kett this was largely accomplished by putting Etta into a more college-like setting and making her the proper opposite to her somewhat wolfish boyfriends.  Like most of the flapper strips, Etta Kett has a thin following with minor exceptions.  Paul Robinson fully participated in the paper novelty craze of the 1930's.  Full-Size Etta Kett pages with Play Money and Paper Dolls sell quite well at the usual premium.

Felix the Cat  by Pat Sullivan and Otto Mesmer (0310-) 1st named strip - August 14, 1923 - Once considered to be the most popular character in comics, Felix the Cat was the pinnacle creation of Pat Sullivan and Otto Mesmer.  Wonderfully whimsical, Felix was the cat that could take off his tail and use it for all sorts of needs.  The Mesmer run of Felix the Cat from 1923 through 1943 included everything that was good and bad about sunday comics of the era.  Sullivan and Mesmer would take Felix into lands of fantasy where Felix could have adventures with all of the traditional Nursery rhyme characters.  Fantastically classic pages were produced showing Felix catching and throwing Lightning Bolts and traveling to the Moon 'a la'  Little Nemo.  At the same time, many racially insensitive pages were produced during this era as well.  Stereotypical portrayals of black characters are typical in many of these pages.    The market for Felix the Cat is very strong.  Full-Size pages sell well at a strong premium.    The frame-ability of some of these pages dictate an even higher premium.  Paper novelties like Play Money and Paper Dolls, make some of these pages multi- premium.  The Paper Doll pages (of which there are only a couple) demand a very high premium.  Dailies sell very quickly at a high premium as well.
