Broncho Bill (Young Buffalo Bill) by Harry O'Neill (0110-) 1st appearance 1928, 1st Sunday September 24th, 1933 - Created by Harry O’Neill, Broncho Bill was a typical western comic strip of the 30’s. The strip actually began as a 1928 daily titled ‘Young Buffalo Bill’, the title evolved into Broncho Bill as the Sunday version was developed on September 24, 1933.   Broncho Bill was the story of a young fast-drawing lawman. The stories and artwork were typically solid with a wonderful bit of western flair. The strip was quite popular in the early days of the singing cowboy, but could not find a spot in the funnies past 1950.  Sales of Broncho Bill as relatively slow for the quality and age of the strip. Offered mostly as a Half or Tab-size comic, nice runs came be obtained quite economically. Dailies sell well when offered.

Brutus by Johnny Gruelle (0115-) 1st appearance Sunday November 17th, 1929 - From the magical pen of Johnny Gruelle, creator of Mr. Twee Deedle and Raggedy Ann, Brutus was Gruelle's longest running comic-strip creation.  Brutus was a rounded-shaped, somewhat witless married man who had a habit for getting into slapstick trouble.    His ability to get into mischief was only matched by his devotion to his wife Cleo.   Many of these pages were devoted to Brutus' scheme to better-provide for her.  In most strips, there was room for a wisecrack remark from his many dogs and cats who had the keenest senses of observation in the house.  The formula jelled into a delightful strip which is rough enough around the edges to keep readers coming back. Because of Johnny Gruelle's status as one of early comic's grand masters and due to a somewhat low number of newspapers carrying the strip, Brutus sells exceptionally well at a high premium.  Regardless of the size of the pages, these are very hard to keep in stock.

Bugs Bunny by Ralph Heimdahl (0125-) 1st Sunday 1942 - Bugs Bunny was one of the many comic strips which was created to support the popularity of the character created in other mediums. In this case, Bugs is the 'Oscar-Winning' rabbit of film fame.  Bugs first hit the Sunday comics pages in 1942 during the World War II days. In the comics, Bugs was a gag strip without continuity. Many staff artists and writers contributed to the work on the sunday Bugs.  Because of this, the quality of the strip was somewhat unspectacular, but the syndicate insisted on steady craftsmanship which ensured that the portrayal of the characters did not change.   Accompanied by Porky & Petunia Pig, Bugs still looks like Bugs regardless of which artist did the rendering.   Only the dailies had stability, guided by Ralph Heimdahl for the vast majority of it's run.  The demand for Bugs Bunny strips is largely due to the popularity of the character. Demand is steady throughout the early stages of the run well into the 1960’s. Dailies sell fairly well also.
